The double room at Hallgreen Castle was absolutely cozy and inviting. I instantly felt at home, especially with the plush bathrobe provided. It made me feel like royalty!
Personally, I found the shower/tub combination a bit inconvenient. But hey, that's just me!

Quirky castle stay with a knowledgeable host. Enjoyed the tour and stunning views. Beware of ghosts.
Who needs dinner when you can have pizza and sandwiches in the castle living room? Quite the culinary experience!

The value for money at Hallgreen Castle was excellent, with a cozy and warm room that had a lovely old feel. The location was great, just a short walk to the beautiful North Sea coast. The staff, especially Robert, were fantastic hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.
The breakfast experience could have been improved by offering a wider variety of higher quality food options.

I had the most delightful stay at this castle! The free WiFi was so generous, and I absolutely loved the iron/ironing board in my guest accommodation. Such modern luxuries in a medieval setting. Simply marvelous!
Oh, and let's not forget the fountains of tears I shed trying to find this hidden gem. Truly an adventure for those who love getting lost!

We had a blast exploring the ancient halls and learning about the history. The digital TV kept us entertained during downtime. Plus, the stunning sea view from the dining room made our breakfasts even more enjoyable.
The only thing we wished for was a dedicated party room where we could dance and have fun with our friends. It would have been the icing on the cake for a perfect teenage getaway.

Garden and picnic area: The castle's garden and picnic area were like stepping into a magical oasis. Sitting there, surrounded by nature's beauty, I felt like a character from a fairytale, enjoying a leisurely picnic in my own enchanted kingdom.
Limited public transport options.

The castle itself was stunning, with a perfect blend of grandeur and coziness. The owner, Robert, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about castles, and his guided tour was a highlight of my trip. The room was warm and inviting, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, especially the four-poster bed. I also appreciated the friendly welcome and the informative tour of the castle. The breakfast was delicious and served in a beautifully decorated living room. I highly recommend this hotel for a unique and amazing experience.
Although I didn't personally experience this, I noticed in a review that some guests mentioned the presence of dogs in the castle. While the dogs were friendly and not in the room area, it would have been helpful to be informed about this beforehand, especially for those with allergies or who may not be fond of dogs.

Great value for the money, the room was excellent with beautiful furnishings and a comfortable bed. The location was perfect, close to the beach and a lovely town. The staff, especially Robbie, were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome.
Hotel breakfast could use some improvement, maybe more variety of options.

My recent stay at a charming castle overlooking the North Sea was an absolute delight. The castle itself was stunning, exuding both grandeur and a cozy atmosphere. Our room was warm and inviting, providing the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. One of the highlights was the personalized castle tour given by the knowledgeable host, who shared fascinating historical facts and stories. The breakfast was also delightful, and the host went above and beyond to accommodate my vegetarian partner. Despite being an old castle, the hosts ensured our comfort and provided a peaceful atmosphere throughout our stay. The breathtaking views of the bay added to the serenity of the place. I highly recommend this unique castle experience.
While there were limited plug-in options for charging electronics and no outlets near the beds, I understand the challenges of providing modern conveniences in a 14th-century castle. Additionally, it would have been helpful to receive prior notice about the presence of dogs in the castle for those with allergies or who are not fond of dogs.

Great location! Easy access to nearby attractions. The host gave a fascinating tour, providing insight into the property's history. The personal attention and service were exceptional. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious!
The property may not appeal to those looking for a traditional five-star hotel experience. The decor and quirks reflect the owner's personal taste, which may not suit everyone.

Quirky castle, knowledgeable hosts, yummy breakfast, beach nearby. Perfect pickup for history buffs like me. A charming adventure, although not quite a five-star hotel. Loved it!
Oh, how I wish the castle could have been heated properly. But who needs warmth and comfort in such an old property, right?

Our stay at Hallgreen Castle was absolutely delightful. From the moment we entered the courtyard, we were captivated by the charm and magic of this renaissance gem. Robbie, our host, truly brought the castle to life with his passion and commitment. One of the highlights for us was when Robbie made a fire in the great room's huge fireplace, creating a cozy atmosphere for lively discussions. It was a truly grand experience.
Although we couldn't order dinner in the castle, Robbie advised us to call a nearby restaurant well in advance. Despite the hiccup, we made the best of it and enjoyed a relaxed evening in the castle's living room, indulging in pizza and sandwiches from the local coop.

Robbie, our amazing host, brought the magic and charm of his castle to life! His passion and commitment were evident as he gave us a personal tour and shared fascinating history. The highlight was the cozy GREAT room with a roaring fire, comfortable seating, and vibrant discussions. The location was perfect, with easy access to Dunnotar Castle and a delightful path to the North Sea. Parking was convenient, and our pup was warmly welcomed. The four-poster bed was ahmazing, ensuring a fantastic sleep. A truly jaw-dropping experience that we can't wait to repeat!

The castle tour was informative and the owner was friendly. the inclusion of bottled water, shortbread, and milk in the mini-fridge was a nice touch. the breakfast was enjoyable.
The cleanliness of the rooms left something to be desired. There were cobwebs, a leaky roof, and dirty carpets.
